Meet Chun-Chien
New to Fontana in 2016, Chun-Chien Chuang is thrilled to join the trio as leader and violinist! Before moving to the KC area in 2004, Chun-Chien’s violin took her all over the world.
After undergrad study at Taipei National University of the Arts, Chun-Chien earned a Masters degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and later a Doctorate in Violin Performance from UMKC Conservatory.
Chun-Chien is comfortable in any musical role. Happy as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player, her career has taken her from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Budapest and Paris, and from Starlight Theater to Kennedy Center. She’s played for pop artists like Josh Groban, Michael Buble, and Peter Gabriel. She frequently plays for Kansas City Symphony and Kansas City Ballet, and formerly for Des Moines Symphony, Sioux City Symphony, and newEar Contemporary Music Ensemble. She is the concertmaster of St. Joseph Symphony. A favorite musical setting for Chun-Chien is as collaborative violinist with her pianist/organist husband, John Villaveces.
She and John raise two sons and one dog in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. They enjoy gardening vegetables, cooking, trying out local restaurants, and bingeing on Netflix.
