Get to know Jenny
Fontana's cellist and booking agent, Jenny Shyver, has lived in the Kansas City area since childhood, where she began cello studies at the age of 9. Jenny’s music degrees are from the University of Kansas and the University of Illinois.
Jenny’s active freelance career includes performances with local professional orchestras, churches, and chamber music groups. She enjoys performing with the Kansas City Symphony as a substitute cellist. As a chamber music coach at Blue Valley North High School, Jenny enjoys working with the next generation of classical musicians, especially since she was first introduced to the cello through the BVSD. Jenny holds numerous academic and performance awards from KU's Honors Program, the Kansas City Musical Club, the Hall Family Foundation, and the Arts Council of Johnson County. Look for the exciting arrival of Jenny’s brand new cello in the Spring of 2017 (Christopher Dungey, United States).
When Jenny’s not rocking the cello, she loves to spend time with her husband Nathan and their two sons Cole and Brady. She loves volunteering, cooking, watching movies, listening to music, and helping the boys practice piano and cello. They live in Leawood with their adorable yellow lab, Honey.
Jenny keeps a YouTube channel of archival Fontana videos. Click on the link below to enjoy them, and feel free to add a review!
